So this is why I’ve been so quiet on this page recently, I’ve been kept super busy with placement and working part time.....it’s my final year of college and this time next year I’ll be a qualified nurse..... Placement is always a tough time to try and fit in exercise but I have been trying to walk as much as I can to make sure my activity levels stay up.....I’ve also tried to keep the snacks to a minimum because it’s quite easy when you’re staying away from home to just snack the whole time out of boredom. 🌬Asthma is one of those invisible disabilities that can take over your body leaving you without much control. It makes you fatigued, exhausted and sometimes even dizzy. It also makes you appreciate something as simple as breathing. ⁣ ⁣ 🚨When it gets bad enough, all commitments have to be postponed and even though this is usually frustrating for me... what else is more important at this point than just breathing?⁣ ⁣ 📚 Sadly, I’ve been struggling to breathe properly for the last few days. But @jamarys21 is the best girlfriend and has been helping me feel better. I’m staying home today, in a very clean and disinfected room, using my nebulizer and reading Ch.7 of my Animal Anatomy & Physiology textbook. ⁣ ⁣ ⛈ Sometimes there are setbacks in every day life, but not giving up is kinda what we’re all about. Even if we are waiting for a tropical storm tomorrow and even if we haven’t been able to breathe that well for a few days, we are still going to learn a little today, we’re gonna read and we’re gonna push through. Who is the author of your life and who truly empowers you? Is it social media or your own self image - which are always changing like living on jello. Or is it an authentic power, the True Self, divine consciousness, Goddess? Face the events of life with courage and integrity, becoming human, step into the full experience of our lives which opens us to the mystical encounter. No one can enter the dark wood for you. We must enter where there is no path because it is different for each of us. We all have our own favorite shadows. Mass consciousness and group pressure cannot ever substitute the real encounter with the sacred. You must go alone. But we support each other, and look to each other. Everything has meaning, including darkness. We go down into the depths before we can rise up. On the hero(ine)’s journey, we become more flexible, more vulnerable, open minded, open hearted, more embodied, more wholistic. When this photo was taken I’d been off work for 1.5 months and training for 3+ months. Every damn day I was in various degrees of pain BUT never pain free! Walking was difficult to impossible. My mental health was going downhill faster than I ever could’ve anticipated until I was honest with my dad as to how bad things were. • Sat crying in a hammock I was told my consultant had retired and I wouldn’t be able to see someone till December - like what the fuck?! But I payed my arse bare to the Reconstruction Specialist Nurse about my situation and within 24 hours she rang me and said she’d managed to get me an appointment with a new consultant in two weeks time. • Fast forward two weeks and I met this new consultant - a man who’d studied my case from my medical profile and listened to every concern I voiced to Donna. All I can say after seeing him is... WE FINALLY HAVE ANSWERS!!! • After 18 months of being adamant something was anatomically wrong with my ankle I got some answers and not just answers but solutions! After 2 hours of chatting, x-rays, assessments and tears I’ve found out that there are osteophytes in several areas of the ankle joint restricting it, there’s arthritis and nerve damage. • I’m now booked in for a procedure on Wednesday - yes within a week of seeing him! CT scans, surgery and most importantly we have a PLAN moving forward. • Honestly I cannot put in to words the relief that having answers has given me and a new direction! Not my usual share but I'm proud of me :-) A few years ago I was working long hours, struggling with my mental health and not as active with sport. I've never been toned but when I was involved with various hockey clubs I was fit and healthy. I started making good mental health changes in my life - took redundancy, took a break, cut out fair weather friends and started cooking and eating healthily again. Over the last year I've started getting active again and have been losing weight with it. I still have belly to lose but I feel great and in the last week I finally see my shape changing, it's slow and been slow but it's right for me. Here it is Buttercups yes the buttercup comment is for those of you that purposely do not attempt to try to use exercise as a method to release your stress and anxiety. This isn't about weightloss, becoming a bodybuilder or attempting to fit into a certain outfit. This is about releasing hormones that are known to reduce stress and help with depression through physical activity. This activity can be completed in MANY ways you just need to get off your ass and figure out WHAT WORKS FOR YOU!!! For most of my clients I combine a passion of theirs and find a commonality with fitness. For example if you love musc make a damn playlist then go walking. If you need something more strenuous then go jogging. START YOUR DAY RIGHT ☀️🌻🙏 Gerade bin ich dabei meine neue Morgenroutine zu entwickeln. In meinen Semesterferien konnte ich mir soooo viel Zeit nehmen wie ich wollte - nun stehe ich wieder mit dem Wecker auf und alles sollte relativ schnell gehen. Die folgenden Punkte versuche ich nun jeden Morgen zu machen: 1️⃣ Tee kochen & Wasser trinken 2️⃣ Dankbarkeitsübung: 3 Dinge für die ich heute dankbar bin aufschreiben 3️⃣ Yoga: Sonnengruss 4️⃣ Drei Minuten kalt duschen 5️⃣ Kaffee und Tee trinken 6️⃣ Essen, Laptop, Kaffeekanne und alles andere in den Rucksack stopfen, aus dem Haus rennen und ultraknapp am Bahnhof ankommen. 😜🙋🏼‍♀️ Eine solche Routine gibt mir extrem viel Energie für den Tag, obwohl ich dafür etwas früher aufstehen muss. Leider schaffe ich es noch nicht ganz, täglich alle Punkte zu machen, merke aber wie viel besser es mir geht, wenn ich für alles Zeit finde! 😍🤸🏼‍♀️🔥 Was tust du jeden Morgen oder hast du überhaupt eine Morgenroutine? Catheter life... I used to feel so much shame when I had a catheter. I used to feel like there was something really "wrong" with me. For once I had something visible and it really freaked me out. I felt such self loathing that a basic bodily function wasn't working... But now I realise that the shame has no place here, and it's just part of life with Neurogenic Bladder. And I'm so grateful that there's something that can work in place of my bladder when it's having a (rather long) nap. So bored of being in hospital now, but still need to be here. Thank you for all the love people, it's much appreciated ❤️❤️❤️

Listened to an amazing podcast with a dude called Dr Zach Bush (Thanks @coachmattdickens ) earlier 🙏🏻 . . The basic thrust was that gut health is obviously incredibly important (as almost everyone will tell you these days) but... many of the foods and drinks mooted to help create a healthy gut are essentially placebo amounts, and there isn’t actually any substitute for getting yourself out there and spending time in different environments! . . City, country, beach, forrest, jungle, park, river, pond - as many and as often is possible apparently! . . It actually got us down to the sea and out for a run* today (that sounds like virtu signalling - When you realise how lazy we’ve been for 6 months and have felt the pull of the sofa in these changing rainy days - you’ll understand that it’s a genuine breakthrough). . Any of you clever people got any thoughts on this? Seems to fly in the face of what we’re being told about amazing ferments are 🧐 . *very very very slow pootle

In my natural habitat, ready for some skin to skin and precious bonding time with my wee boy, I find a woman who thrives. She's creative, she is loving, she does not second guess herself (too much). It certainly hasn't always been that way. Body acceptance and loving yourself just as you are, presently, in the moment, unfortunately doesn't come natural to many of us. Often, it continues to be a work in progress and even then, when you start to embrace yourself, you may find yourself on top of the world the one day and down the gutter again the next. C'est la vie. At the end of the day, it's not about how we look. Thinking it is, is fake comfort, and a bitchy one at best. You see — and you KNOW THIS — you are not your looks and you are not your body size. We are subtle and not so subtle brainwashed into thinking what we look like is important, as if it is part of our character and our place in this world. It is not. What we, as a society, are merely doing, is distracting ourselves from what truly matters. Love, Joy. Ourselves. Listen up. Your body is your ally here on this physical plane and it wants you to thrive. It wants you to connect to it, listen, embrace the gut and tap into its innate power. Above all, it's right here on this journey with you, a home to that beautiful, wild soul of yours. But I know what it's like not to see it that way. I know what it's like to feel like you need the self-hatred. It keeps you small. Small seems safe. But it doesn't feel good, does it? Do not despair if you're in a bad place with yourself. Your tears are the water to your roots, and if you ever doubt your strength, try and think of it this way. You're not fighting yourself, your battling what you have started to believe is true about yourself. It's not you, not the real you. The real you is in your corner and he/she is fiercely strong. It just sometimes takes a lot of time to reconnect and let go of what is no longer working for you, to unlearn and take the angle out of negative beliefs. You got this though.

I stress a lot. I stress about; work, money, friendships, relationships, my family, what I’m saying, what I’m doing and what I look like. I stress that I could be doing more, & who I am & that everyone else has it figured out. I stress that this I’m choosing the wrong career path, I stress that I’ll make bad decisions, or just generally fuck up. Tbh these little anxieties that fly around my brain everyday are part of the reason I ramble on here so often. On the flip side, sometimes we may actually benefit from a little bit of stress sometimes as it’s our instincts telling us to do or change something. That being said stress can be paralysing. On social media we often praise people for working ridiculous hours or having minimal sleep to “smash their goals”, when actually there’s no point running yourself into the ground if what is left of YOU is a bundle of nerves, worry & exhaustion. This whole ‘always on the grind’ persona people are pushing on social media needs to stop. I truly believe that exercising, sleep and eating a varied diet are some of the most important things you can do to create a happier life. You only have one body. You need to recognise that sometimes putting so much pressure on yourself to be the best may actually bring about the opposite result. I know it sometimes feels like we have to know exactly what we are doing and have our lives together 24/7 but what’s really important is making sure you are mentally and physically healthy. So if you’re feeling so stressed and so overwhelmed that you’re feeling like can’t move forward, there’s nothing wrong with just slowing down & taking a breath ❤️
